Nurtured by three decades of experience in the migration and modernization of critical COBOL applications, CobolCloud is the result of the fusion between a valuable legacy and an innovative vision. Initiated by renowned experts in the field of COBOL application modernization, this project aims to create an entity capable of transcending COBOL applications into emerging IT architectures, ensuring sustainability and evolution. The adopted approach is based on four pillars: an open-source foundation, the adoption of leading market software, acquisition of certifications from renowned vendors, and the establishment of an international network of strategic partners and Technical Hubs.
Mainframe migrations, involving various components such as JCL, Assembler, PL1, 4GL, and others, go beyond COBOL. These initial steps are generally led by IT service companies with the support of vendors like CobolCloud. With its Transpiler-oriented architecture, CobolCloud facilitates continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), occupying a unique position at the intersection of service delivery and software publishing, highlighting its essential role in the modernization of IT system. A second phase is often requested by companies wishing to optimize operating costs. CobolCloud meets these expectations by replacing, for example, proprietary databases with PostgreSQL, transactional monitors with equivalent open-source solutions, and, of course, the existing COBOL with CobolCloud’s COBOL. This phase is carried out independently by our teams, eliminating the need to engage digital services companies.
The cornerstone of CobolCloud lies in its innovative Transpiler, capable of converting any COBOL dialect into “C” code without altering the original source code.
